ZipSheets for Bunk Beds

I’ve been selling specialty bunk bed sheets for over 10 years now.  The most common types are called inseparable attached sheets because the fitted sheet and flat sheet are sewn together at the foot end of the bed and up the wall side. Once on the bed, you simply pull the flat sheet to the front to make the bed. Most of my customers love them. They solve the problem of needing to lift and tuck bedding in hard to reach places in order to make the bed. But they also solve the problem of loose bedding dangling around a bunk bed. Loose bedding not only makes the bed look messy, it also poses a real safety issue.

So, there is no doubt, inseparable attached bunk bed sheets are a great product and have a place in the bunk bed bedding market. However, since I have discovered ZipSheets, I have found my new, FAVORITE  bunk bed sheets – zipper bed sheets for bunk beds. They perfectly complement other fitted bedding such as fitted bunk bed hugger comforters. I personally would recommend zipper sheets for bunk beds over any other kind of specialty sheets for bunk beds.

Why do you need special sheets for bunk beds?

You need special sheets for bunk beds because bunk beds are very difficult to make. While bunk beds and loft beds aren’t the only “hard to make” beds, they certainly are one of the worst. The mattress sits down in a frame on both bunks with very little space between the mattresses and the bed frame. As challenging as that can be, there is a good reason for it- it’s called bunk bed safety. There shouldn’t be more than 1″ between the mattress and bed frame. Additionally, the bed may be positioned in a corner or up against the wall making it even more difficult to get to all four corners to lift and tuck bed sheets. Most people manage to do that when they change the sheets to launder them. But it’s almost impossible to do that lifting and tucking daily. It will damage your knuckles and drive you CRAZY!

The result is a messy bunk bed with dangling sheets that can even pose a safety hazard to those who sleep in the bed. It is easy to trip on loose bedding or even fall and get caught in it posing a strangulation hazard.

How do you cope?

So, how do people cope? Some just use a fitted sheet alone with a blanket, no flat sheet at all. This requires more frequent laundering of the top bedding. Some put a sleeping bag on top of the fitted sheet. It’s not a very nice look. I guess it works but you still have a heavy sleeping bag to launder frequently. Others may opt for the more expensive “all-in-one” zipper bedding. It looks beautiful but I’ve been told it takes a long time to dry and it comes with a hefty price tag. So if you are new to the zipper bedding market, it might be good to try ZipSheets first. These zipper bed sheets for bunk beds will solve many of the most common bunk bed and loft bed bedding problems. While they are sheets only, no comforter attached, you can easily throw on a blanket or comforter for sleeping and it will stay in place on top of the zippered sheets.

How so Zipper Sheets solve Bunk Bed Bedding Problems?

ZipSheets are designed to go on easily like a fitted bed sheet with the flat sheet attached. The flat sheet is sewn to the fitted sheet at the foot end only and zippers join the top sheet to the fitted sheet along both sides. An area is left open at the foot end for ventilation. You can zip up the sides to make the bed or leave them unzipped. They are cut just long enough on the sides to drape down about halfway on the mattress. The entire ZipSheet set looks fitted on the bed as no bed sheets hang below the mattress. They can even be used alone in warmer climates or if the top bunk is not being used daily, these sheets will act as a mattress cover for that hard to reach top bunk. So ZipSheets solve bunk bed bedding problems by making it easier to make the bed and by keeping all bedding fitted reducing the risk of dangling covers.
